L'Ambroisie et L'Espace Canal Wedding in Montreal | Arda + Paul

A modern and cool wedding in the historical factory district of St. Ambroise

Former industrial district in the 1800’s, the old factories were converted into commercial lofts now named Chateau St. Ambroise. Home to tenants mainly in creative businesses and arts, the industrial spirit of the buildings was maintained, complete with red brick walls and exposed beams. Wedding reception venue and Restaurant L’Ambroisie is nestled within the “L” of the main building, and L’Espace Canal was added/ designed in 2013 as a larger event venue.

If you’re looking for a similar Montreal wedding venue; something urban and with a ton of character but less industrial, Hotel Place D’Armes in the Old Port of Montreal could be an option. See a wedding at the hotel’s chic Brasserie 701 here.

calm, collected and joyful

Both Arda and Paul were grounded people. The kind of people that you feel you could count on in an emergency to keep their heads and know what to do and keep other people calm. We all know someone like that, right? Well, the two were therefore a match made in heaven! They were very relaxed on their wedding day, which isn’t always the case, and it made for a really joyful and smooth day that they could fully enjoy. Preparations started at the chic Alt Hotel downtown. The couple was married in a ceremony at the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral of Montreal, followed by portraits in and around the industrial district around the Chateau St. Ambroise and followed by a reception at L’Ambroisie restaurant. I usually hope for ugly-crying when clients and their guests have seen my photos, but weddings in general can tend towards ugly-cries (usually kept in check to keep up appearances lol). This was the case during many moments of this great day as the couple celebrated with their closest loved ones.

Grounded and serious but with a few jokes

While I just described the couple as very down-to-earth, they had a peppering of super-cute and fun moments that allowed their less serious sides to show through. It made this day so much fun for everyone, including me! When I’ve laughed as hard as I work at a wedding, I think magic happens in photographs, because there is a level of comfort and camaraderie that develops. This group was definitely a memorable one, and I’m grateful to have been part of this day with them.

Here’s to joy,

Lucy

Venue: Restaurant L’Ambroisie
