Sissy and Marc-Étienne's Wedding at La Bullerie in St. Joseph du Lac
A joyful and jovial vineyard wedding at La Bullerie
The experience of capturing Sissy and Marc-Étienne’s upscale yet subtly elegant wedding at Vineyard La Bullerie in St. Joseph du Lac was truly a memorable one. Despite the chaos that Hurricane Debby brought with heavy rain, the spirits of the couple and their guests remained high, creating a sense of resilience and unshakeable joy that was palpable in every moment.
The traditional Chinese tea ceremony added a special touch to the day, with Sissy absolutely glowing in her stunning traditional Chinese gown. The well wishes and love shared by their friends and family only added to the warmth and love inside while it rained steadily outside.
In the midst of the warm and attentive atmosphere of La Bullerie (not only was the service and food great, but the staff worked so hard to keep water away from the doorways and keep the couple and guests dry!), what truly stood out to me was the relaxed and joyful energy that Sissy and Marc-Étienne exuded. The rainy weather did not affect their high spirits one bit! They weren't just there to have a fancy wedding, they were there to celebrate their love in the most genuine and heartfelt way possible; rain or shine. And that authenticity is what made their day so special.
I was challenged professionally to overcome the very rainy circumstances and get creative in framing and keeping us all dry! Equipped with umbrellas and using La Bullerie’s terrasse-tent, we made things work. Around 8pm the skies cleared and the glistening vineyard greens made Sissy’s red reception dress pop as we took advantage of remaining light for some portraits. Because we were limited on that day, the couple and I met up again a week later at Centennial Park in Dollard des Ormeaux for a brief portrait session, on a day where the rain was far away.
Here’s to joy,

I’m here to photograph your joy, and [hopefully] make you ugly-cry (even if in private or just on the inside!)
My mission is your dream wedding.
The picturesque St-Joseph-du-Lac
The St-Joseph-du-lac region found north-west of Montreal in the Laurentides, is known for its orchards and wineries and is post-card worthy with its rolling hills. I have been in the area several times and each time it’s like a deep breath of relaxation — calm and pretty and quiet.
Planning your wedding at La Bullerie in St-Joseph-du-Lac
La Bullerie is about an hours drive from Montreal. Since it is a ways from the city, some guests may consider accommodation in nearby Saint Eustache while you as a couple can stay right onsite in the single suite that they offer. There are 2 event rooms to choose from; one more intimate and one larger and features an outdoor tent for your wedding ceremony. It is an experienced event-planning venue and every detail is considered. The food is great, the staff friendly and attentive. When night falls and the weather clear, starry skies are endless and if there is no rain, you can take a moment from wedding festivities to sit outside by a firepit and stargaze!
