Vieux-Port Montreal Steakhouse Wedding | Tanya + Kris
Rustic and eclectic wedding in the heart of the Old Port of Montreal
The Old Port of Montreal is a special place. Incredible architecture, cobblestone streets, water views and home to notable spots like the Bonsecours Market, the Clock Tower and the Observation Wheel. It’s no wonder that so many Montreal couples choose to celebrate at least part of their wedding in this area.
Rocking Montreal’s Orange Cones
Nearing their wedding day, Tanya and Kris found out that roadworks to restore the cobblestone directly outside their wedding venue, Vieux-Port Steakhouse, weren’t going to be completed in time. With an imminent relocation to Toronto for work, they really wanted to record and document their life in Montreal, and that included embracing exactly how their wedding would unfold. And that meant embracing the extra season in Montreal - construction!
First looks and exploring the port
I love it when my couples make time for photos. The first look, on the rooftop of Terrasse sur l’Auberge with its stunning views, allowed for more time after the ceremony to hit a few spots for group and couple photos. One of my favourite spots to photograph in that area is Cours le Royer - where we encountered a red dress run. I knew nothing about this group or why they were running, but it was an interesting wedding encounter, to say the least! With weddings, anything can and usually will happen!
Wedding preparations started at Tanya and Kris’s condo near Griffintown. I later met Tanya and her amazing group at the room above the Steakhouse. From there was the rooftop first look and portraits - walking through the dusty streets with dresses hiked! After a touching ceremony, we wrapped up the group portraits and then just went exploring around Rue Saint Amable, where rose archways added a hit of romance to an already incredible day.
Here’s to joy,
Lucy
