La Maison Verte Wedding in Sainte-Geneviève | Diana + Mitchel
An intimate and heartfelt Maison Verte wedding in Montreal’s West Island
In their own words, La Maison Verte is “Fine French dining in a 19th-century former home with a traditional white-cloth setting & a terrace.” It’s cozy with water views and lovely sunsets. I’ve also been there for dinner with family and the food is outstanding. If you’re looking for an intimate and rustic restaurant wedding venue near Montreal, scroll on!
Almost in their own backyard
Who says you need to go far from home to exchange your vows? Diana and Mitchel held their ceremony in a local park, steps away from their home. Mitchel had proposed under one of the giant trees, so it felt right to exchange vows in the same place. Choosing a little cove lined by trees and shrubs for privacy, they were able to walk from their home, get married, take photographs and then head back home to take a few photos with their beloved pup in the backyard!
Pointe-Claire Quebec, part of the West Island of Montreal, features some beautiful green spaces. A wedding in a park is casual and fun, and it gives all the park-goers lots of joy! Especially in the stress of the pandemic, you can’t even imagine all the smiles and well wishes of passers-by.
An oasis in the heart of a suburb
While Diana and Mitchel opted for the ceremony at the park just a stone’s throw from their doorstep, they decided to walk the mere one block to Terra Cotta park, a beautiful, wooded and serene 40 hectare park with walking trails, for a portion of their couple portraits. They often walk their dog on the trails, and found some spots that they enjoyed and wanted to commemorate on their wedding day. As there was a heat wave on this early September day, the cooler air of the park gave us all a little respite!
Special touches
Diana prepared for the day at her parent’s home, and her father drove her back to the house for the first look in his vintage car. And he was fully dressed the part - how awesome of dad! Both Diana and Mitchel are somewhat reserved personalities, but their excitement of seeing one another and being married in “their park” brought out laughter and faces beaming with sentimentality and love.
Here’s to joy,
Lucy
