Mist, Rain, and Magic: A Lively Wedding at Estérel Resort in the Laurentians

Soft fog, modern luxury, and an electric celebration at a romantic getaway destination north of Montreal.

Tucked into the Laurentian Mountains, Estérel Resort & Spa feels like a true escape. Surrounded by forest and water, the resort balances refined luxury with the calm of a secluded getaway. This is exactly what makes it such a compelling place to get married. Weddings here feel immersive rather than staged, with guests settling into the rhythm of the weekend and celebrations unfolding naturally across the property. When weather rolls in, the atmosphere only deepens, turning fog and rain into part of the experience and giving celebrations an intimacy and energy that feels effortless and unforgettable.

It wasn’t so much rain as a the gentlest, almost imperceptible drizzle on Nicole & Hugo’s wedding day. It didn’t dampen their spirits one bit — their rooms were buzzing with laughter and preparation. Their whole crowd was simply next level happy and ready for a party, right from the start of the day. Estérel Resort is an absolutely beautiful spot, and I might argue that the misty atmosphere made it even more special. It felt cinematic, romantic. A serene backdrop for a high-energy group!

The ceremony was moved inside but the resort has a large hall to accommodate any indoor event. With a wall of windows there are lovely views, even if inside. We made a plan for indoor wedding party photos either in different areas of the hotel or in the rooms, but drizzle was so fine and mild that they opted to go out! We didn’t spend too long outside but it was so much fun! From dabbing and dancing on the lawn, to the guys recreating the I’m flying Titanic scenes on the rocks, we had good laughs and the rain was forgotten. The photo to the right was the cheer that portraits were done and we were headed into the party!

As part of BESTKND weddings, a sense of place is important. It is where you will make a big life commitment to another person, and the photographs will depict the celebration in that place, so it is forever immortalized in your photo record. If you visit a venue and can imagine seeing it in your future wedding album, it may be the spot for you!

Father-Daughter First Look

These days, a bride and groom first look is common. Father-daughter first looks aren’t as common, but they are highly emotional, like with Stephanie and her dad in this blog. Nicole’s first look with her dad was teary and sweet, and mom and maid of honour had been in the corner watching and they were teary as well!

Why Couples might choose Estérel Resort & Spa as their bestknd wedding place

Estérel Resort is a full service spot. Guests can stay overnight or even for the whole weekend, and the venue can easily host small or larger weddings. Stunning views but private and exclusive, it’s for you if you are looking for a high-touch and upscale wedding celebration but still with a natural and serene backdrop. If you make it a wedding weekend, enjoy being pampered at the spa before the big day!

Estérel Resort is about a 2-hour drive from Montreal but feels like you have stepped into the untouched Canadian landscape. This distance is very doable if coming from the city and surrounding areas, yet it has a true feeling of a getaway. If there for a wedding weekend with an overnight or more of a stay, enjoy a range of activities like canoeing and paddle-boarding, a thermal experience at the Lido Nordic Spa, some great food and wine, and comfortable and luxurious accommodations. Celebrating in style at Estérel is very easy!

A touching ceremony, fun portraits in the mist, and dance ‘til you drop!
